Angel

Angelfish are tall, laterally flattened South American cichlids and one of the most recognisable fish in the hobby. Adults are considerably taller than they are long once the fins develop, which is why height matters more than footprint when you choose a tank for them.

They are generally calm with fish too large to be eaten, but they are still cichlids: pairs become territorial while spawning and small slender tankmates can go missing. Warm, soft to moderately hard water, steady temperature and some tall planting or wood to break up sightlines suit them well.

A good choice for a larger community tank rather than a small starter setup. Stock rotates, so the strains listed here are the ones currently in the shop. Livestock is sold for pickup in Lethbridge.
