Weekend / Feeders

Feeders for the days you are not there. The page covers slow-release blocks and gels, including the Tetra vacation gel feeder and Marina betta blocks, along with automatic feeders such as the Eheim Everyday and Nutrafin units and the API weekend pyramid.

Choosing

Length of absence is the first question. Blocks and gels are made for a weekend or a short trip and dissolve on their own, while a programmable automatic feeder is the better answer for longer stretches and for keeping a routine. Food type is the second consideration, since automatic feeders handle flake and small pellets reliably but damp or oversized foods tend to clog the drum.

Feeders are usually bought with the food that goes in them.
