Discus

Discus are large, disc-shaped cichlids from the Amazon basin and the fish most aquarists work up to rather than start with. Adults are substantial and need depth and height, not just floor space.

They are demanding in one specific way: water. Discus want warm, soft, very clean water held steady, which in practice means generous filtration, frequent water changes and a tank that is not shared with boisterous or nippy tankmates. They are peaceful but easily outcompeted at feeding time.

This is a fish for an experienced keeper or a patient beginner willing to commit to the maintenance. Strains and sizes rotate with each shipment, so the listings here reflect current stock. Livestock is sold for pickup at our Lethbridge store, where you can see the fish before you buy.
