Sagittaria

Sagittaria is a small rosette plant with narrow, strap-like leaves that spreads across the substrate on runners. Given time it forms an even, grassy stand toward the front of a tank.

Growing Sagittaria

  • Rosette: plant each crown at substrate level, spaced apart so the runners have somewhere to travel.
  • Lighting: low to moderate light is enough.
  • CO2: not required.
  • Placement: foreground or midground, depending on how tall the leaves run in your tank.
  • Difficulty: undemanding.

Runners will eventually carry it further than you planned, so thin the stand from time to time. Our stock rotates, and this page shows what is currently in the shop. Plants are sold for local pickup at the Lethbridge store.

For a taller take on the same habit, see Vallisneria.
