Assorted African Cichlids

African cichlids from lakes Malawi, Tanganyika and Victoria are kept for their colour, their behaviour and the sheer variety within the group. This mixed listing brings together mbuna, peacocks, haps and other rift lake species as they come in.

Setting up a rift lake tank

Hard, alkaline water is the starting point, along with sand, rockwork and a tank long enough for adults of the species you pick. Filtration should be strong and water changes regular, as these are active, messy fish.

Most are territorial to some degree and are better housed with one another than with quiet community fish.

Stock rotates as new fish arrive, so the list reflects current availability. Livestock is sold for local pickup at our Lethbridge store, and you are welcome to come and see them.
