Cryptocoryne

Cryptocoryne are rosette plants that root into the substrate and feed heavily through those roots. They come in a wide range of leaf shapes and colours, and they hold up well in quiet, low-light tanks.

Growing Cryptocoryne

  • Rosette: plant the crown at substrate level and leave it undisturbed once it settles.
  • Lighting: low to moderate is plenty.
  • CO2: not required.
  • Root feeding: root tabs pushed in near the base make a noticeable difference over time.
  • Placement: midground, or foreground for the smaller species.
  • Difficulty: undemanding once established.

Crypts often shed leaves after a move, a habit known as crypt melt. Leave the roots alone and new growth usually follows within a few weeks. Stock rotates, so this page shows what we currently hold. Plants are sold for local pickup at our Lethbridge store.

Root tabs are listed under Plant Fertilizer & Additives.
