Pleco

Plecos are South American suckermouth catfish, ranging from species that stay small to fish needing a very large tank as adults. Check the adult size of any pleco before buying, as the difference between types is considerable.

In the aquarium

They are largely nocturnal and appreciate driftwood, caves and shaded corners to rest in during the day. Many rasp on wood as part of their diet, and most benefit from sinking foods rather than relying on algae alone.

Temperament is generally peaceful towards other fish, though some are territorial with their own kind. They suit community tanks with good filtration, since they produce a fair amount of waste.

The fish listed are what we currently have; stock rotates as new arrivals land. Livestock is sold for local pickup at our Lethbridge store.
