Gourami

Gouramis are labyrinth fish from Southeast Asia, able to take air at the surface as well as breathe through their gills. The group runs from small dwarf species to fish that need a roomy tank, so check the adult size of anything that appeals before you buy.

Keeping gouramis

Most are calm and unhurried, and they do best in gently filtered water with plants, driftwood or floating cover to break up sightlines. Males of several species are territorial with one another, so allow space or keep a single male per tank.

They suit planted community tanks and patient keepers who enjoy watching behaviour rather than constant motion.

Stock rotates as new fish arrive, so what appears on this page is what we currently have. Livestock is sold for local pickup at our Lethbridge store.
