Hygrophila

Hygrophila covers a group of fast, forgiving stem plants. They grow upright in tall columns and fill a background quickly, which is useful in a new tank that needs plant mass early on.

Growing Hygrophila

• Stem plant: plant stems individually in a loose group rather than leaving them banded together.
• Lighting: low to moderate light is enough for steady growth.
• CO2: not required.
• Placement: background, or midground for shorter species kept trimmed.
• Difficulty: undemanding, and among the easier stem plants to keep.

Cut the tops before they reach the surface and replant the cuttings to thicken the stand. Our stock rotates, so this page shows what we currently have. Plants are sold for local pickup in Lethbridge.
