Ludwigia

Ludwigia is a stem plant grown for colour. Depending on species and conditions the leaves run from olive green through orange to deep red, and that colour responds strongly to how much light the plant gets.

Growing Ludwigia

  • Stem plant: plant several stems together so the group reads as one block of colour.
  • Lighting: moderate to high. Stronger light is what brings out the red and orange tones.
  • CO2: not essential, but it helps the plant make use of that extra light.
  • Placement: midground or background, set against green plants for contrast.
  • Difficulty: moderate.

Trim and replant the tops to build a fuller stand over time. Stock rotates, so what is listed on this page is what we currently have. Plants are sold for local pickup in Lethbridge.
