Hydrocotyle
Hydrocotyle is a creeping plant with round, coin-shaped leaves that travels along the substrate on runners. It grows quickly and can be put to work in more than one part of a layout.
Growing Hydrocotyle
- Habit: creeping and spreading, sending out runners that root as they go.
- Lighting: moderate light keeps it low and compact. In dimmer tanks it stretches upward instead.
- CO2: optional, though it answers to it with faster growth.
- Placement: foreground or midground, and it can also be allowed to climb over wood.
- Difficulty: undemanding, but it needs pruning to stay where you put it.
Expect to trim it regularly once it settles in. What is listed here is our current stock, which rotates. Plants are sold for local pickup at our Lethbridge store.
For a smaller, tighter carpet, look at Micranthemum.
