Loach / Botia

Loaches and botias are bottom-dwelling fish from Asian streams and rivers. Sizes run from small, slender species to considerably larger fish, so it pays to check adult size before committing to one.

Setting up for them

Clean, well-oxygenated water and a soft substrate matter most, along with caves, driftwood and other places to tuck into. Nearly all are social, and a small group behaves far more naturally than a lone fish.

Botias in particular are busy and inquisitive, and some are boisterous enough that tank mates should be picked with care. Many will take snails, which is either useful or unwelcome depending on your tank.

Stock rotates regularly and this page reflects what is in the shop today. Livestock is sold for local pickup in Lethbridge.
