Aeration

Aeration gear moves air into the water and keeps the surface active, which is how oxygen actually enters an aquarium. This page holds air pumps, air stones and diffusers, control valves and airline parts from Marina, Fluval and Aquatop.

What to look at

  • Pump output relative to tank volume and depth, since a deeper tank needs a pump that can push against more water.
  • Number of outlets, and whether gang valves are needed to split one line.
  • Stone type: fine bubbles for a soft column, coarser bubbles for stronger surface movement.

Air stones are commonly paired with sponge filters, breeding boxes and airline tubing.

Air-driven breeding boxes are listed under Breeders.
