We do not take backorders on live fish, invertebrates or plants. Livestock arrives on the shipping schedule our suppliers and the weather allow, so we will not promise a date we cannot keep.
What is in the tanks changes from week to week. Ask us and we will tell you what is in and what is coming, or check back shortly. Visit us or get in touch.

The cobalt blue discus is a captive-bred strain of discus (Symphysodon sp.) selected for a solid, saturated blue across the body and fins. Discus are tall, disc-shaped Amazonian cichlids that move slowly and deliberately, and they are among the most rewarding freshwater fish to keep well — provided you go in understanding that they ask more of a keeper than almost anything else in the shop.
Aquarium care
- Adults are large and tall, so a deep tank matters as much as a long one.
- Needs consistently warm water, warmer than a standard community tank.
- Prefers soft, slightly acidic water and requires very low nitrate.
- Frequent, generous water changes are part of normal discus keeping, not an optional extra.
- Keep a group of five or six; single or paired discus in a community often become withdrawn.
- Slow, deliberate feeders that need time at the food.
Best in a species tank or with calm, warmth-tolerant companions such as cardinal tetras, rummynose tetras and corydoras. Avoid fast feeders, fin-nippers and anything that needs cooler water. Talk to our staff about tank setup before buying — discus reward preparation and punish improvisation.
Stock rotates with each shipment, and livestock is available for local pickup at our Lethbridge store. See the discus collection.
