Marina Cylindrical Air Stone

A cylindrical air stone spreads its output along its whole length, so it can tuck under a gravel edge or behind an ornament and lift a broad curtain of bubbles instead of one narrow plume.

Key features

• The long body diffuses air across a wider footprint than a round stone, which suits tall or narrow tanks well.
• Fine bubbles keep the surface moving, and it is that surface agitation that drives gas exchange — the bubbles themselves add very little oxygen on the way up.
• Push-fits onto standard airline tubing, so it works with the usual aquarium air pumps.

Air stones are a consumable. Mineral scale and biofilm gradually block the pores, output falls off and the pump has to work harder, so plan on swapping them out from time to time. If your pump sits below the water line, fit a check valve on the airline so water cannot siphon back into it.
