Aquarists who find broad-leaved Anubias a little heavy tend to reach for this one. Anubias minima holds slim, pointed leaves on upright stalks, giving a lighter and more open silhouette than barteri or coffeefolia while keeping every practical advantage of the genus. It came out of Africa like the rest of its relatives and behaves the same way underwater: patient, tough and almost impossible to starve.
Aquarium care
- The rhizome sits on top. Push it into substrate and it will blacken and rot from the middle out.
- Attach with thread or glue to wood, lava rock or a nook in the hardscape.
- Happy in low light, which makes it useful in shaded corners other plants refuse.
- Slow growth means low nutrient demand and very little trimming.
- Old leaves are the ones that catch algae, since each leaf stays on the plant for many months.
A sensible choice for mid-ground planting in community aquariums, and for tanks holding fish with a habit of tearing at soft stems. Rasboras, tetras, corydoras and peaceful gouramis all suit it.
Plant availability shifts week to week. Local pickup at our Lethbridge store, with the wider live plant list online.
