Snowflake clownfish are a captive-bred line of Amphiprion ocellaris selected for broken, spreading white banding over the usual orange body. The bars run together and break apart in patterns that differ from fish to fish, which is the whole point of the strain. Everything else about them is standard ocellaris: a small, confident fish that picks a spot in the tank and treats it as home.
Aquarium care
- Adults reach about 8 cm.
- A 75 L aquarium is a sensible minimum for one fish or a pair.
- Keep a single fish or one bonded pair rather than adding clownfish over time.
- Captive bred, so it accepts pellets, flake and frozen foods straight away.
- Does not require an anemone, and often ignores one when offered.
- Among the hardier marine fish available and forgiving of small mistakes.
- Markings keep developing for the first year or so.
They suit a peaceful reef or fish-only system with gobies, cardinalfish, chromis and small wrasses. A settled fish will chase intruders away from its corner, so avoid other clownfish species and very timid tankmates that cannot get out of reach.
Stock rotates with each shipment, and livestock is available for local pickup at our Lethbridge store. Browse the saltwater fish collection.
