Flatworm eXit is Salifert's treatment for the brown and red planaria-type flatworms that spread across sand, rock and coral in reef aquariums.
Key features
- Formulated for use in a running reef aquarium, which is unusual among flatworm controls.
- Acts on the flatworm population directly rather than relying on a predator fish that may or may not do the job.
- Reached for by reef keepers once a bloom has grown dense enough to shade corals.
Read this before you dose
- Dying flatworms release toxins. That, rather than the product itself, is the real hazard: a heavy infestation dying all at once can poison the tank.
- The established approach is to siphon out as many flatworms as possible before treating, keep siphoning the dead ones out during and after, and run fresh activated carbon afterwards to strip the released toxins. Have clean saltwater mixed and ready for a water change.
- Clearing a badly infested tank in stages is safer than trying to do it in one hit.
- Dose rate and timing are on the bottle. We do not publish figures here, and guessing at them is how tanks get lost.
