Red Sea DipX

DipX is a coral dip from Red Sea, used as a short bath on new corals and live rock before they go anywhere near an established display.

Key features

• Made for the quarantine step: corals are bathed in prepared dip in a separate container, then rinsed and placed, rather than dosed into a running system.
• A blend of essential oils rather than inorganic disinfectants, which Red Sea formulated to be easier on coral tissue than improvised dips.
• Aimed at the unwanted hitchhikers that arrive tucked into the base, plug and crevices of new frags.

How it fits your routine

• A dip reduces risk; it does not sterilise a coral or guarantee that nothing gets through. Pair it with a genuine quarantine period and a close look at the frag plug, which is where a great deal hides.
• It is a bath treatment, never an addition to the display tank. Mix it in a separate container with tank water.
• Bath strength and soak time are on the bottle. Follow them, because a longer soak is not a safer one for the coral.
