Yellow golden line shrimp are a Neocaridina davidi colour form carrying a bright lemon-yellow body with a pale stripe running down the back, which is where the golden line name comes from. Yellow is one of the more eye-catching morphs in a planted tank because it holds up against green foliage rather than disappearing into it. Colour intensity varies between individuals and generally improves as a shrimp matures and settles.
Aquarium care
- Adults reach about 2.5 to 3 cm.
- Peaceful, and safe with aquarium plants.
- A grazer that works on biofilm, soft algae and detritus; supplement with shrimp pellets and blanched courgette or spinach.
- Needs moderately hard water with adequate calcium so moults go cleanly.
- Avoid copper-containing medications and fertilisers.
- Different Neocaridina colour lines interbreed, and the offspring drift back toward wild brown over generations.
They suit planted community tanks with small peaceful fish, or a dedicated shrimp tank if you want the colony to grow. Provide moss, leaf litter or a shrimp shelter so young have somewhere to hide. Keep them out of tanks with cichlids, larger barbs, loaches or anything that hunts along the substrate.
Stock rotates with each shipment, and livestock is available for local pickup at our Lethbridge store. See the shrimp collection.
