Marina Fish Net Breeder

A net breeder is a soft mesh enclosure that hangs inside the tank, giving fry or a gravid female a protected corner while the tank's own water passes straight through the walls.

Key features

• Mesh sides let water flow through freely, so temperature and chemistry inside match the main tank exactly and waste does not accumulate.
• Soft walls are kinder than rigid plastic to a stressed fish that dashes about when disturbed.
• Hangs from the tank rim and folds away flat between uses.
• Handy for more than breeding — isolating a nipped fin, or holding a new arrival somewhere you can watch it.

Choose with the fish in mind: newborn livebearer fry are small enough to pass through a coarse weave, so check the mesh before you rely on it. There is no separate fry compartment either, which means you need to move the female out once she has dropped. If you would rather that separation happened automatically, look at the rigid traps in Breeders.
