The panda cory (Corydoras panda) earns its name honestly: a cream to pinkish-white body carrying three blocks of black, one over the eye, one on the dorsal fin and one at the base of the tail. This is the long-finned line, in which the dorsal and caudal fins are drawn out into flowing extensions that soften the whole outline of the fish. It is a Peruvian species and one of the most popular small corydoras in the hobby.

Aquarium care

  • Reaches roughly 5 cm.
  • Peaceful, active and community safe.
  • Keep six or more; panda corys are noticeably more confident in numbers.
  • Sand or smooth rounded gravel, never sharp substrate.
  • Bottom-dweller. Feed sinking wafers, pellets and frozen bloodworm.
  • Prefers cooler, well-oxygenated water than many tropical fish.

Panda corys suit planted community tanks with small tetras, rasboras and dwarf cichlids. The long fins are the one thing to plan around: keep known fin-nippers such as tiger barbs and Colombian tetras well away from them.

Stock rotates with each shipment, and livestock is sold for local pickup at our Lethbridge store. Browse the current corydoras.
