The green neon rasbora (Microdevario kubotai) is a small Thai and Myanmar stream fish and one of the few genuinely green aquarium species. The body is translucent with a broad wash of apple or lime green along the flank, brightest when the fish is settled and lit from above, and there is no red or blue anywhere on it. A shoal moving through fine-leaved plants looks like a scatter of green sparks, which is not something many other fish do.
Aquarium care
- Reaches around 2 cm.
- Peaceful and easily overlooked in a busy tank.
- Keep ten or more. The green only really shows in a group.
- Wants clean, gently moving water and plenty of planting.
- Swims in the middle of the tank.
- Needs small foods: crushed flake, micro pellets, frozen cyclops and baby brine shrimp.
A nano species, best in a planted tank with other small, quiet fish such as chili rasboras, pygmy corydoras and ember tetras. Keep it away from anything large enough to chase it.
Stock rotates with each shipment, and livestock is sold for local pickup at our Lethbridge store. See the current rasbora list.
