The golden white cloud is a selectively bred form of Tanichthys albonubes in which the usual olive-brown body pigment is largely absent, leaving a soft gold-yellow fish with a pale pink-gold line where the bright lateral stripe sits on the standard form. The red in the fins is still there and still intensifies when males display. Behaviour, hardiness and requirements are identical to the standard white cloud — only the colour differs.
Aquarium care
- Reaches about 4 cm.
- Subtropical; comfortable at room temperature and usually kept unheated.
- Keep eight or more so males have one another to display to.
- Prefers cooler, well-oxygenated water with gentle movement.
- Feed small flake, micro pellets and frozen foods.
- The pale body disappears against light substrate — a dark base and planting show it far better.
A good choice for an unheated community with other cool-tolerant species. Avoid mixing them with warm-water fish, and avoid anything large enough to treat a 4 cm minnow as food. Never release aquarium fish into local waterways, ponds or storm basins.
Stock rotates with each shipment, and livestock is available for local pickup at our Lethbridge store. See the freshwater fish collection.
