The gold laser corydoras is an undescribed species from the Rio Tapajós region of Brazil, carried in the trade under the code CW010. Over a bronze-green body it runs a bright gold-orange stripe from behind the head along the back, which is the feature the name refers to. Intensity varies between individuals and with condition, so it is worth looking at the fish in the tank rather than at a photograph.
Aquarium care
- Adults reach roughly 5 cm.
- Shoaling — keep six or more.
- Less forgiving than a bronze corydoras; it wants clean, stable, well-oxygenated water.
- Soft sand is important so the barbels stay intact.
- Feed sinking pellets or wafers rather than relying on leftovers.
- Peaceful and non-territorial with everything, including other corydoras.
They suit a settled planted community with small tetras, rasboras and dwarf cichlids. Because the species is undescribed, trade names overlap heavily and the CW number is the reliable identifier — ask our staff what code is on the tank if you are matching an existing group.
Stock rotates with each shipment, and livestock is available for local pickup at our Lethbridge store. Browse the corydoras collection.
