Glo Tetra Assorted

GloFish tetras are fluorescent lines of the black skirt tetra (Gymnocorymbus ternetzi), a hardy South American fish that has been in the hobby for decades. The colour is genetic and permanent rather than dyed or injected, and it is passed to the offspring. It appears strongest under blue or actinic lighting against a dark background, where the fish read as solid blocks of pink, orange, green, blue or purple. Our assorted tanks carry whatever colours the shipment brings.

Aquarium care

• Reaches roughly 5 to 6 cm.
• Hardy and undemanding about water chemistry.
• Keep six or more of a kind; the colour mix does not matter to them.
• Omnivorous: flake, pellets, frozen bloodworm and brine shrimp.
• Active mid-water swimmer that needs open space.

Black skirt tetras, fluorescent or not, will nip trailing fins when kept in small groups, so keep the numbers up and skip bettas, angelfish and fancy guppies. They do well with barbs, danios, corydoras and other sturdy community fish. A dark substrate and blue lighting are worth the trouble if the colour is what you are after.
