Three ultra-fine polyester polishing pads for the Fluval FX4, FX5 and FX6 canister filters.

Key features

• Traps the micro-particles that slip through foam, taking water from clear to properly polished
• Most useful after tank maintenance, a rescape, or any time the water has gone milky
• Cut for the large FX-series media baskets, which are a different shape entirely from the 07 series
• Three pads per pack, sensible for a stage that clogs faster than anything else in the filter

Using them well

Polishing pads go in after the foam, never before it, and they are best treated as a finishing stage rather than something left in and forgotten. On the big FX filters a saturated pad can hold back a surprising amount of flow, so pull it out and look at it if the output has dropped off. Foam pads for the FX range handle the coarse work and are listed separately. The wider media selection is in External Media, and pickup is available at our Lethbridge store.
