Fluval ClearMax 3 Pack

A chemical filtration resin that targets phosphate and nitrogenous compounds rather than the dissolved organics carbon deals with.

Key features

• Adsorbs phosphate, nitrite and nitrate, the nutrients that feed persistent algae
• Supplied in three ready-to-use bags that drop into a canister media basket
• Works alongside carbon rather than replacing it, since the two remove different things
• A useful tool when water changes alone are not keeping nutrients down

What's included

Three bags of ClearMax resin.

Getting sensible results

ClearMax is not a substitute for water changes, feeding less or stocking sensibly, but it does buy you room while you sort those out. Like any adsorbent it becomes exhausted and then does nothing, so judge it by testing your water rather than by the calendar. Keepers of heavily planted tanks should note that stripping phosphate also removes a plant nutrient. Other chemical and biological media are in External Media, and our Lethbridge store keeps it in stock for pickup.
