A soft, lightweight granular substrate made for planted betta and shrimp nano tanks, where roots need something to hold and the bottom needs to be forgiving.
Key features
Porous granules that plant roots can grow down into, which suits carpeting and stem plants in small tanks
Light and soft rather than sharp, so it is kind to bettas and shrimp that spend time resting on the bottom
The same porous structure gives beneficial bacteria a large surface to colonise
Dark, natural tone that makes fish colour and green growth stand out
What's included
One 800 g (1.76 lb) bag, sized for nano and betta tanks — larger aquariums will need several
Expect some cloudiness for a day or two after setup while the fines settle; it clears on its own. Whatever substrate you choose, a betta still needs heated, filtered water and clear access to the surface to breathe. More options in Gravel & Substrate.
