This listing is for female Endler's livebearers (Poecilia wingei), the small relative of the guppy from Venezuela. Females are the plain half of the species: olive to silver, rounded in the body, and without the metallic patchwork the males carry. They are bought either to pair with males or to keep a breeding colony going, and they are every bit as hardy as the males they are usually sold beside.
Aquarium care
- Small โ females stay under about 4 cm, males smaller again.
- A 40 L tank is enough for a small colony.
- Prefers hard, alkaline water, which suits most tap water in this region.
- Peaceful and constantly active near the surface and mid-water.
- Takes finely ground flake, micro-pellets and small frozen foods.
- Endlers and guppies interbreed freely, so keep them separate if you want pure Endler stock.
They suit a small planted community with chili rasboras, ember tetras, corydoras and dwarf shrimp. Avoid anything large enough to eat them. Livebearers breed quickly, so plan for the numbers, and never release aquarium fish into local waterways or ponds.
Stock rotates with each shipment, and livestock is available for local pickup at our Lethbridge store. See the endler collection.
