Blue Snake Mosaic Guppy (Male+Female Pair)

Blue snake mosaic guppies (Poecilia reticulata) combine two named guppy patterns: the snakeskin body, a fine chain-link marking running along the flanks, and a mosaic tail, where irregular blocks of colour break up the fin. This listing is for a male and female together, which is how most people start a line rather than buying a single show fish.

Aquarium care

• Males stay around 3 to 4 cm; females grow larger and are far plainer.
• Prefers hard, alkaline water and steady temperatures.
• A pair will breed readily, and a female may produce several broods from one mating.
• Adults eat their own fry, so provide dense planting or a separate tank to raise them.
• Gentle flow suits long-finned guppies best.
• Feeds on flake, micro-pellets and small frozen foods.

They suit a calm hard-water community with platies, corydoras, otocinclus and small rasboras. Keep them away from fin-nippers and larger fish. If you intend to keep the pattern true, house this line on its own — guppy strains cross readily. Never release aquarium fish into local waterways.
