We do not take backorders on live fish, invertebrates or plants. Livestock arrives on the shipping schedule our suppliers and the weather allow, so we will not promise a date we cannot keep.
What is in the tanks changes from week to week. Ask us and we will tell you what is in and what is coming, or check back shortly. Visit us or get in touch.

The shubunkin is a single-tailed calico goldfish (Carassius auratus). What makes a good one is the scale type: nacreous scales are part matt and part transparent, which lets the underlying blue-grey pigment show through. The blue ground is the most sought-after and the least common, overlaid with patches of black, orange, red and white. Colour continues to develop for a year or more, so a young fish is not showing you its final pattern.
Aquarium care
- Single-tailed and long-bodied — a fast swimmer that reaches 25 cm or more.
- Coldwater; a heater is unnecessary in a normally heated room.
- Needs a long tank with real swimming length and generous volume.
- Heavy waste output means strong filtration and frequent water changes.
- Feed sinking pellets with blanched vegetables; it will graze soft plants.
- Long-lived, often well beyond a decade with good care.
Keep shubunkins with comets and other single-tailed goldfish of similar size rather than with slow fancy varieties. Goldfish are invasive where introduced in Canada, so never release one into any waterway, canal or storm pond, and rehome unwanted fish instead.
Stock rotates with each shipment, and livestock is available for local pickup at our Lethbridge store. Browse the goldfish collection.
