Round-leaf bacopa (Bacopa rotundifolia) carries pairs of nearly circular, pale green leaves along a soft succulent stem. The leaves are rounder and thinner than those of the more common moneywort, and the plant tends to lean and sprawl rather than stand rigidly upright, which gives a relaxed look through the midground.
Aquarium care
- Stem plant. Plant stems singly, stripping the lowest pair of leaves before pushing each one in.
- Midground to background, depending on how tall you let it run before topping.
- Moderate light. Give it too little and the internodes stretch while the leaves shrink.
- Does not require CO2 but responds well to it and to regular water column fertilising.
- Propagate by topping. Cut sections root quickly and the parent stem branches below the cut.
- Left untrimmed it will reach the surface and grow emergent tips above the water line.
A relaxed, informal plant for community tanks that are not built around strict aquascaping lines. The loose growth gives fry and small fish somewhere to tuck away, and it fills space quickly in a tank that still looks bare.
Stock rotates with each shipment, with local pickup at our Lethbridge store. See the bacopa collection.
