Marina Floating Breeder Trap

A floating breeder trap gives a gravid livebearer somewhere safe to drop her fry, and gives the fry somewhere to fall where nothing can reach them.

Key features

• Floats in the display tank, so the fry sit in exactly the same temperature and water chemistry as everything else and there is no second tank to run.
• A sloped lower compartment separates newborn fry from the adult, which is what stops a hungry mother eating her own young.

Traps are for short stays. A female shut in a small box for days on end gets stressed, so watch her and let her out once she has finished, then move the fry to a proper grow-out tank as soon as they are large enough to be safe.
