API Test Kits

Single-parameter API kits, sold individually so you can buy the one test you actually need or replace one that has run out.

Key features

• Liquid reagents read against a colour chart, the same chemistry used in the API master kits
• Buy one parameter at a time instead of a whole kit you will not use
• Useful for topping up a master kit when a single reagent runs dry
• Glass test tube and instructions supplied with each kit

Options

• Ammonia, nitrite and nitrate — the cycling trio
• pH, and high range pH for alkaline and marine water
• GH and KH together, plus a freshwater KH kit
• Calcium for saltwater, and phosphate
• Copper, for monitoring a course of copper treatment

If you are cycling a new tank, ammonia and nitrite are the two to own; both should reach zero and stay there once the biological filter is established. Nitrate tells you how overdue a water change is. The rest are situational — copper while medicating, calcium and phosphate for reef tanks, hardness for anyone matching fish to their tap water.
