Tropical Fish Imports is a specialist aquarium store in Lethbridge, about a 1 hour 45 minute drive — roughly 168 km — west of Medicine Hat along Highway 3. If you have outgrown what is available closer to home, it makes an easy half-day trip.
What we stock that is hard to find locally
As the name suggests, we import. Our tanks lean toward the fish and plants that general pet stores rarely carry:
- L-number plecos and other specialist catfish
- Marine fish, invertebrates and reef supplies for saltwater setups
- Rare and wild-type cichlids, African and South American
- Live aquarium plants, from easy stems to harder-to-find species
- Aquariums, filtration, heating, lighting, foods, water treatments and test kits to go with them
Whether you keep a 10 gallon shrimp tank or a 125 gallon cichlid setup, stock changes every week. If you are coming a long way, phone 403-380-4506 first to check that a specific fish is in before you leave.
Livestock is pickup
Live fish, plants and invertebrates are best collected in person, so you can choose exactly what you are taking home and we can bag it fresh for the drive back. Limited livestock shipping runs Mondays and Wednesdays under our Shipping Policy, but if you are making the trip it is worth hand-picking your own.
