The body is a soft grey-brown covered in fine dark spots, the fins are edged in white, and long white barbels sweep ahead of the head. It lives among the rocks along the lake shore, and in the aquarium it behaves the same way, working through caves and crevices rather than resting in the open.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eAquarium care\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eSmall for a \u003cem\u003eSynodontis\u003c\/em\u003e, comfortably kept in a normal rift-lake tank.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ePeaceful for a catfish and social with its own kind.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eKeep a small group; they are much bolder together.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eWants hard, alkaline water in keeping with its Tanganyikan origin.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eNeeds piles of rock with caves and crevices.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eOmnivorous: sinking pellets, wafers, frozen bloodworm and brine shrimp.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe obvious catfish for a Tanganyikan or general African rift-lake tank, alongside shell dwellers, small Tanganyikan cichlids and Malawi species.
